Jane's Biography
I am proud to be a native Texan, born and raised near AnyTown. After I graduated from AnyTown High School I went on to complete my teaching degree at the University of Texas at AnyTown.

The first eight years of my professional life I taught math at Bluebonnet High School here in AnyTown. Then in 1988 I felt like I was missing something from life and so I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and became an intelligence analyst. In 1991 while assigned to the 7th Marines I served with pride in Operation Desert Storm.

After serving four years in the Marines I returned to AnyTown and civilian life. I became the principal at Bluebonnet High School and was proud to serve in that position for another twelve years before retiring in 2007.

I am 49 years old and have been married to my best friend John Q. Public for 27 years. We have three children and eleven grand children. My oldest daughter proudly followed my footsteps into the Marine Corps and is now a 2nd lieutenant.

Issues
Hello people of AnyTown, my name is Jane Public and I'm running for City Council this November. My major concerns with our city are public saftey and education.

As a Council member I would like to see additional funding to go to our emergency response agencies such as police and fire departments. Our emergency responders are the people we look to in emergencies and we cannot afford to let them rely on outdated equipment or be under staffed and under paid.

I feel our schools here in AnyTown need more funding to pay for programs for kids, new books, new schools and higher pay for teachers.

Our emergency responders and our teachers are the people who protect us, save us and educate us as we grow as both people and a society. Their protection and stewardship provides a stong foundation for AnyTown. Public saftey and education are often over looked and determined to have "adequate" funding.

Honestly, do you think schools that have to close programs, operate with excessive overcrowding, and under paid teachers are "adequately funded"? No, I don't think so.

There are many ways we can fix these problems. We could raise taxes, but those ballot measures don not usually get voted in. Very few people are willing to pay a few extras pennies when they buy something, or they believe the money will be used for things than what it is designated for.

There are ways to make sure the money gets spent where it is allocated and so if raising taxes is the best way to fund improvements in public safety then we can put in stipulations in the proposals. As an example we can make it illegal to use the money for any other purpose than stated.

We can also look at the programs funded my out municipal taxes and instead of funding failing programs we can redistribute that money to public safety and education. There is always pork in any municipal program and I will seek to cut the the fat from any programs that are over funded.

I would love to hear you opinions on these issues, you can email me at or visit my campaign site.
